September 16th, 2008. SFR store in Paris, France.

In line to get one of the very first BlackBerry Bold 9000 in France. I took the day off, just to get one of the first 16 devices to hit Paris the first day. I had to have it. I played, that morning, the game of calling every SFR stores all over Paris to check out their deliveries to see if they have received the BlackBerry Bold 9000 “The Great”. Of course, it was impossible to put a device on hold, you had to be physically there. At 1pm, I got a tip from a store located in the 16th district that the store on the Champs-Elysees was more likely to be the only store with the first Bold in France and that I should start getting in a line, I took my scooter and in no time, I was there, entering the SFR store. I guess I was not the only one who heard the news.   Read the article here.

RIM has been looking for a new Chief Marketing Officer, rumors say Gavin Kim is on the table…
Well this is good news, if they’re hiring a CMO, that means they are in business, which means we are in business : )

Here they are. The loyalists. Only a BlackBerry fanatic is willing to make a video for free in these times.. Love the passion… Keep going guys… See the videos here.Video #1 - Really? I Mean Really?
Too bad he didn’t know that you cannot use any song in your video on YouTube. Although, so many people do it anyways…I wonder what song he used? And how it got pulled so fast…UPDATE 4/18/12 - It appears he removed the copyright material and was able to re-post. I like the video, the kid is funny and it’s a good concept. Not Be Bold per se, but this would make a funny commercial if it got a bigger budget.
Video #2 - What is This?
Is this a remix of that Parkour video finalist we saw last year, Ong Bak and Rumble in the Bronx? Well shot though, good choreography and love the athleticism. Congrats.

Video #3 - Inspector Gadget Bad Guy is Always a Good Call.
Congrats for the editing work, awesome music (no copyright issues here folks) the BlackBerry gear with the combo beanie-gloves-jacket, neat Batman spin. I am noticing a tendency toward violence in these videos…I’ll expand on this later…
On the down side, I wish we’d have seen a better fitness coming from Bruce Wayne. I guess you don’t have to go to the gym to protect the city from crimes and villains as long as you have your BlackBerry in your hands.
Video #4 - Damn That Was Loud!Love the energy here. Bring it on girl. Seriously, starting from the name to the costume/outfit she’s wearing to the size of that girl, it’s colorful, fresh, it’s new to our eyes, maybe too new, you know, just like when that futuristic looking device come out and you’re like, it looks terrible! even though you know that 10 years from now you’ll be loving those shapes and designs. Chipmunks voice over, was it her real voice? If I wasn’t passionate, i wouldn’t have watched the video until the end. On the plus side, now I don’t need to ever try LSD.
Video #5 - Family RecitalHow cute is it to get the family involved into something he obviously loves; the BlackBerry products. I find it very pleasant to see how much passion this kid has for his BlackBerry, enough to get everybody on board from the parents to his little sister acting as the PlayBook. Cute! Also, this is actually a great script.
Video #6 - Grand Canyon TourAwesome intro, user experience POV, very inventive way to bring us into his world. Do not watch if you’re afraid of heights, seriously the guy almost lost me when he looked down the “abyss” of the canyon with his camera. Oh wait a minute, I jumped out of a plane texting on my BlackBerry ; )

Video #7 - Good CauseLove the concept and the dedication, and he’s raising money for a great charity. I like it when the BlackBerry Nation can make a difference in the real World. The guy is long-time iPhone Fanboy but his buddy convinced him to take on the Bold 9900. I’m glad he realized the potential of a Bold 9900 and a PlayBook. Better late than never!
Video #8 - That’s How We Roll
Laughed long and hard here, well done. Love the attitude, and that it is pride in supporting the BlackBerry community, is this a real business?
Video #9 - “The Most Interesting Berry In the World”Hmmm, we can also redo the scene from the SuperBowl Budweiser “Wazzzzaaaaaa” ad using BlackBerry Smartphones. Hey! that was a good commercial too.
Video #10 - Kids in the Hall!
Very funny. I like the guy. He’s the only one coming from a different angle, with a true humorous tone, cliché German accent with emphasis on the Fuhrer speech techniques. Portraying the new  german-born CEO answering journalist’s questions and telling, in the process, his vision for the company. Great value in these tough times. Either you make people laugh, make them dream/escape their daily lives or you pay them. One of the three. I wonder if Thorsten has seen this…I bet he laughed!

Unlike sports, the mobile game doesn’t get played season to season. It’s an ongoing game, and as long as you’re in business you’re not out of contention. RIM just needs to make sure they have all their players in position — software, hardware, apps, marketing — so they can take a clear shot when BlackBerry 10 phones hit the market

Julien Dias entered the CrackBerry Fanboy contest with his video of skydiving and while he was freefalling, he used his BlackBerry to text “I’m falling for BlackBerry!” If that wasn’t enough to prove how much Dias loved his BlackBerry, I don’t know what is. Dias is literally a BlackBerry diehard fan.

To get a ticket to the BlackBerry Developer Conference that happened last October, I had to win a contest organised by #1 BlackBerry Fan Site, CrackBerry.com.

The reason why I needed to be at the conference is because I wanted to introduce this crazy idea I have for the BlackBerry brand: Voyage 662.

Back to the story, I had to win that contest and prove once it for all to the World that I was the #1 BlackBerry Fan Boy. In order to win a trip to San Francisco (that’s where the venue was), I had to come up with something huge, something that would take me directly to SF, to where I could meet the most dedicatead people in the community.

So I asked myself, what’s the craziest thing you can do with your BlackBerry in your hands?  What can give me the same rush that I get when I’m enjoying the BlackBerry experience…

The world “RUSH” eventually lead me to think about skydiving. Well, after a couple calls to local diving schools that would let me have my BlackBerry in my hands while jumping off a plane.

The next morning, on September 30th, I was in Perris, CA at the Perris Diving School ready for my jump.
I asked for a cameraman to jump with me so I could have good shots of me using the BlackBerry Bold 9700. For safety purposes, my BlackBerry had to be strapped to my wrist and taped to my fingers. I was able to send the text “I’m falling for BlackBerry!” as I plummeted to Earth, I proved that a dedicated BlackBerry user can use the phone in any circumstances.

The result? I WON THE CONTEST and became the #1 BLACKBERRY FAN BOY that day.

I got to go to the DevCon and meet interesting and passionate people, smart companies and press looking for a scoop.

Hope you enjoy the video!
